Black walnut both solid and veneered construction went into this great little library. The client had intended for this to be a reading room but the project was expanded to include a small library.

It was decided that because the room was long enough it would be made into two separate areas. At one end would be the reading area, with its comfy chairs and occasional tables and the library at the other. It's a bit like separating business from pleasure.
The small peninsular section with its large column and pediment manages this without being too overpowering. Under the window in the library is a cleverly disguised radiator behind a walnut lattice work grill. |
